Resolution on Christian Education

We of the American Council of Christian Churches are of the firm conviction that the Bible is the infallible rule for all acts and conduct in every area of our life. We believe this rule especially applies to the education of our children. The Bible makes clear our responsibility to our children and our neighbors’ children to “bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

The Word of God is filled with exhortations for us to bring up our children under the discipline of Christian Education (cf. Deuteronomy 14:5-10; 6:5-8; Psalm 78:1; 1:1,2; Proverbs 1:7-9; 2:1-9; 22:6; Joel 1:3; Ephesians 6:l-4; Mark 9:42; Deut. 6:7, 8, 9). Our Lord Jesus Christ set us the example and commanded us to do so, saying, “Go…and teach all nations…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

In these days of widespread denial of and weakening convictions about God’s Holy Word as to its claims to be plenarily and verbally inspired and historically accurate, as to its prophetic declarations and as to its demands for Christian living, we believe it vital to our Christian life that we have consecrated Biblically sound Christian education established throughout this Republic. By God’s grace we must stand up against atheistic, socialistic and evolutionary oriented secular education, as well as false so-called “Christian” education. In all phases of life we must maintain absolute loyalty to the Christian faith as taught in the Old and New Testaments, since all things must be tested by the Word of God. This can only be done with academic institutions holding to educational standards that are completely loyal to the great fundamentals of the Christian Faith for which this council stands.

The American Council of Christian Churches therefore charges Bible believing separated Christians everywhere to support and defend all Christ-centered and separated Christian Day Schools, Colleges and Seminaries that excel in academic standards and are faithful to the Word of God. Christian Education is the HOPE of our future. May God use the ACCC in the great field of Biblically Christian Education.

Since 1941 the ACCC has sought to PROVIDE information, encouragement, and assistance to Bible-believing churches, fellowships and individuals; to PRESERVE our Christian heritage through exposure of, opposition to, and separation from doctrinal impurity and compromise in current religious trends and movements; to PROTECT churches from religious and political restrictions, subtle or obvious, that would hinder their ministries for God; to PROMOTE obedience to the inerrant Word of God.
